Even if you are not doing a trip with Nomad Sportfishing, we still want to help you get the best tackle for your trip, no matter where you are heading. Fiji and Vanuatu are popular destinations due to their close proximity to Australia's East coast and relative low cost associated with fishing near the main islands. We have done exploratory trips to both of these countries having been asked to help setup lodges in past years, and we have found some excellent fishing for bluewater pelagics. These areas don't have the same shallow reef flats fishing or the amount of GTs found on the Barrier Reef, but they can have some excellent fishing for yellowfin, wahoo and dogtooth tuna.
With this in mind, the following selection will cover everything you need for casting at yellowfin, wahoo and some GTs, as well as a selection of great trolling lures for dogtooth, wahoo and yellowfin.
The Madscad 190 Deep is a really great lure on these trips because it can be trolled and cast and is a real multi purpose performer. The DTX 200 and maverick roughwater are also standout performers for trolling. The riptide 200 is a proven performer when casting the reef edge for GTs and you always need a few Chug Norris Poppers on any trip.
