Nomad Sportfishing has been running in NZ catching big kingfish for some time, and we know what lures work for big Kings. The riptide and madscad range of stickbaits are absolutely deadly on kingies, with the 200 size riptide being the hands down favourite with many angers casting for this species. The smaller 155 size is also a deadly option, and the different sub surface action on the madscad often causes the fish to go crazy. Of course, kingies love jigs and the larger size streaker and Gypsy jigs have proven deadly on kingfish up to 40kg.
Kingfish on poppers might not be new, but the guys at Big Angry Fish TV show have proven that big kings on poppers is totally achievable, and the Chug Norris has proven itself as a big kingy catcher.
The bleeding mullet, fusilier, sardine and Holo Ghost Shad colours have proven themselves as kingfish favourites.
